• Establishment and representation of the sub-discipline of public mental health in the field of public health
• Information on current topics and events in the field of public mental health
• Horizontal networking with departments and working groups of other specialist societies
• Exchange and capacity building in the areas of research, teaching and practice

Activities of the department

• Promotion of exchange between science, practice, politics and relevant target populations, as well as organization of events (symposia, workshops and seminars)
• Joint events with specialist departments and working groups of other professional associations, e.g. the “Psychosocial Care Research and Public Mental Health” department (German Society for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, Psychosomatics and Neurology (DGPPN)), the Public Mental Health working group (German Society for Social Medicine and Prevention (DGSMP))
