Public Health Services
The Department of Public Health Services is a joint department of the German Society for Public Health (DGPH) and the German Society for Social Medicine and Prevention (DGSMP). The department deals with fields of work of the public health service at national, regional and municipal level against the background of current discussions and developments in the field of public health. Our understanding of the ÖGD (Öffentlicher Gesundheitsdienst) is based on the model for a modern public health service.
Goals of the department
We want to give experts from practice and science the opportunity to contribute their knowledge and experience, network, present their work and develop together.
The focus is on topics such as
- the co-production of health through integrated work in the sense of Health in All Policies,
- measures to reduce health inequalities, strengthening participatory approaches, health promotion, management and coordination,
- measures for the sustainable and health-promoting development of cities and communities,
- providing evidence-informed advice to policymakers, the professional public and citizens,
- ensuring and further developing high-quality initial, continuing and further training for academic teaching in the ÖGD and
- communication and solidarity in the ÖGD at local, regional, national and international level.
Activities
- Organization of specialist forums and workshops at conferences such as Poverty and Health and the annual conferences of the DGPH, the DGSMP, the BVÖGD or the European Public Health Association (EUPHA)
- Annual departmental meetings as part of the Poverty and Health Congress in Berlin
- Writing or contributing to relevant statements and publications.
- Networking actors from science and ÖGD practice
We are also happy to receive specific ideas and suggestions from members of the department. Just get in touch with us.
